“Relationships don’t work the way they do on television and in the movies. Will they? Won’t they? And then they finally do, and they’re happy forever. Gimme a break. Nine out of ten of them end because they weren’t right for each other to begin with, and half of the ones who get married get divorced anyway, and I’m telling you right now, through all this stuff I have not become a cynic. I haven’t. Yes, I do happen to believe love is about pushing chocolate covered candies and, y’know, in some cultures a chicken. You can call me a sucker, I don’t care, because I do believe in it. Bottom line: it’s couples who are truly right for each other that wade through the same crap as everybody else, but the big difference is they don’t let is take them down. One of those two people will stand up and fight for the relationship every time. If it’s right, and they’re real lucky, one of them will say something.”

Guess who’s back…

Gonna give MS another go… but not on the shadower. Going to play the hermit a bit, see if MS can be fun again. Had Kristy post my Fan and Shield in her shop, and after taxes, I was almost 450mil richer. So now I can get some decent equips on the hermit. I’ll update soon.

A quick update

I can’t sleep and I can’t find anything on the internet to entertain me, so I guess I’ll post for the one person who reads this (I love you mom)… just messin. I checked out what maple’s big “showa” patch had to offer, and it definitely did not ignite any flames that may get me back on. I really haven’t been playing rose online either, I’m just not in an rpg mood. I think the biggest difference between the games is the fact that rose makes a great single player game, that you’re playing aside others, where as maple is a game where you need to be part of the community in the long run. Both have their pros and cons.

But enough about video games. My work is trying (and succeeding) to screw me over. I asked to be paid a differential rate to work overnight, since I worked first shift most of the week, and an overnight shift another night. Working the overnight shift throws your schedule off pretty bad, because one day you need to sleep during the day to prepare to stay up all night… then following work you need to take another nap, but still try to salvage the day. Well, they denied what I asked, and I told them I wouldn’t work that shift anymore… so in return, they cut most of my shifts. If I weren’t a poor college boy, I’d quit, but I need to find another job before I can put my two week notice in.

My girlfriend finished up her semester and moved back home. So now she’s only 5 minutes away… which means a lot less internet for me… and a lot more… well, I’ll be a happier camper. We’ve gone through this whole, move away, and come back then 5 years now… it kinda replaced the drill of getting out of school for the summer. Now when school ends, we get to see each other more. I’ve been commuting this year, so now she’s glad to be back, and I can’t wait for my next departure. Hopefully it’s sooner than later.

My favorite band of the last 5 years is breaking up. The performed their last show Friday night (they’re playing one last show under a different name Monday night in Boston). The Receiving End of Sirens… As corny as it sounds, this band has changed (maybe even saved…) my life so much. Everyone needs something to be passionate about, whether it be art, cars, music, or kittens, we need something to be enthusiastic about. I’m a huge fan of well-written music… I’m not the picky type that hates on radio music either, but majority of my tastes are less known bands. I just like bands that write their own music, and don’t let the record companies destroy it by changing it for a broader audience.

If you want to listen to something that will move you, check out either one of there cds… spend the 10 dollars and buy it, a ripped version does not give the quality they deserve.

Breaking from Maple…

•April 24, 2008 • 2 Comments

After hitting 140, I told myself I’d market to get skills and better gear… At first I had no motivation to get back to training, other shadowers inflated the price of crucial skills, and the economy got screwed over by MTS. Atleast when gacha came out, people still had to work a tiny bit to convert money to mesos, and mesos to gear. Now people can just get mommy’s credit card, and buy godly gear. Being the gamer that I am, I wanted to find a new game to play…

After my experience with Maple, I knew I didn’t wanna dedicate my time to another Nexon game, so that ruled on Mabinogi. I’ve also played FlyFF before, and wasn’t really impressed with it. I’ve dabbled on WoW as well, but it wasn’t community based enough for me. I finally stumbled upon Rose Online, and after putting in hours of training / questing and reading up on character builds, I’m extremely impressed with the game. There is a monthly fee, but it’s free to download, and they do offer 7 days free. It still seems cheaper to play this, with one flat rate, rather than dressing up a maple avatar and paying for a pet.

Anyways, this is really only a break from maple, although the game has been destroyed by the company hosting it, I still have my friends on it. If anyone wants to join me on Rose, that’d be super. Check it out on youtube.

Damage Rating Calculator

•April 3, 2008 • Leave a Comment

I wrote a small program that will calculate your Damage rating. All you need to do is input your stats and click the weapon type you use. The calculator assumes you have your mastery maxed. It is really basic right now, and cannot run as a standalone exe file (yet?). If anyone is interested in messing with it, let me know and I’ll zip it and upload it. It was created/written in VB and I have no problem releasing the source to the right people.

I might make a skin for it later down the line, but I’d rather work on other features…

Some things I plan on implementing is…

-Saving stats, to make comparing different builds easier.
-Checks, to make sure stats are possible
-Maple Warrior Boost
-Make it a standalone exe

I don’t ever plan on releasing this publicly, only to friends who want it… Let me know what you think, or if you’d like to help work on this or future projects.
